With the very quick uptake on Malbrontes Red when we released the first vintage back in 2009, we were soon receiving requests for a white wine to partner it, and so Malbrontes Torrontés was born. The fruit is from Famatina Valley in La Rioja Province to the north of Mendoza, just underneath Salta, an excellent and much under-rated source of Torrontés. The wine is delightfully aromatic as one would expect from this grape, with charming notes of jasmine flowers and a touch of lychees. Crucially, however, Mauricio Lorca makes a style that is scored through with zesty, citrus-like acidity, making for a wine that is aromatic, yes, but not overly perfumed.
